0% Platform Fee for Organizers

GoFundMe has a 0% platform fee for organizers. However, to help us operate safely and securely, our payment processors deduct transaction fees (which include debit and credit charges) from each donation when made. Campaign beneficiaries receive all funds raised minus these transaction fees.

We also appreciate voluntary tips from generous donors.

Voluntary tipping by donors

GoFundMe has a 0% platform fee for organizers, which allows beneficiaries to receive more of the funds donated.  Donors have the option to leave a voluntary tip for GoFundMe. By leaving a voluntary tip, you’re helping us to do more good in the world. Your generosity helps us provide a safe and secure experience for you and others in our community. 

Tipping is not mandatory and the tip amount can be changed to 0. Instructions for how to edit the tip amount are here.

We know that there is a lot to keep track of regarding the funds, so below is an example of a donation breakdown.

Example (US):  If a donor makes a $50 donation and also chooses to leave a $5 voluntary tip to GoFundMe. 

  • $48.25 is sent to the beneficiary of the fundraiser after processing and appropriate verification
  • $1.75 is deducted by our payment partner as a transaction fee, which includes debit and credit charges (i.e., 2.9% + $0.30 per donation) 
  • $5 is sent directly to GoFundMe as a voluntary tip for GoFundMe’s services
