When it comes to very public campaigns, our main goals are to ensure that donors understand how their donations are handled and to help make campaigns as successful as possible. One way to make this happen is to ensure that your campaign is transparent.
If withdrawals are on hold, this is because our team sent the campaign organiser an email with the subject 'Important Message from GoFundMe' or ‘Urgent Message from GoFundMe – Action Required’ regarding the hold.
In order for the withdrawal hold to be lifted, we ask that you double check the story to make sure it includes the following information before replying to this email:
- Who you are and where you are from
- Your relationship or contact to the parties you are raising funds for
- How the funds will be spent (be as specific as possible)
- Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiary or beneficiaries.
Note: If a beneficiary has been added, make sure your story includes the beneficiary’s name and relationship with your cause.
If you are the beneficiary and are in contact with your campaign organiser we recommend asking them to make sure the information listed above is included in the story before getting in touch with our team.
If you are the campaign organiser, simply reply to our initial message and our Community Management or Trust & Safety team will be able to finalise their review. It is important to know that this email could be hiding in your spam, junk or inbox folders - so please check there.
Once the campaign organiser has replied directly to our message a member of our Community Management or Trust & Safety team will review the account within one business day. You will either receive a reply from our team letting you know the withdrawal hold is lifted, or the next time you sign in to your GoFundMe account the banner stating the funds are on hold will be gone.
