Sharing your fundraiser on Nextdoor

Nextdoor is an online platform that builds community among neighbours, and it’s a great way to share your fundraiser. By sharing on Nextdoor, you’ll be able to reach people that aren’t in your direct circle of family or friends.

How to share your fundraiser on Nextdoor

  1. Select “Share fundraiser” from your fundraiser’s dashboard
  2. Select 'Nextdoor' from the available options (not available on the mobile app)
  3. You'll be asked to log in or sign up with Nextdoor to continue the process

If you don't have a Nextdoor account, you'll be asked to create a new one. To sign up, you’ll share your home address and phone number with Nextdoor.

Note: This information is shared only with Nextdoor and won't be included on your fundraiser.

  1. Write a post introducing your fundraiser and need
  2. Post to your neighbours and to any of your relevant groups
  3. After posting, you'll be returned to your GoFundMe dashboard

Your post should include a brief explanation of what you’re raising funds for, and how funds will be used. Make sure to let people know you’d appreciate it if they could also share your fundraiser, in addition to donating.

Remember, personal fundraising is allowed on Nextdoor, but spam is not. Please be respectful of the platform and avoid repeatedly posting the same fundraiser or multiple fundraisers. You can learn more in Nextdoor’s guidelines on overposting

Stay safe while sharing

GoFundMe and any social media platforms on which you share are public, which means bad actors can view both your fundraiser and any posts you make about it. Occasionally, bad actors may try to contact you through social media to advertise crowdfunding help. GoFundMe will never offer fundraiser promotion for a fee, and we don’t condone or suggest using any services that do.

Keep the following tips in mind when sharing on social media:

  • Never share your GoFundMe account or personal and bank details over social media.
  • Don't engage with individuals offering to promote your fundraiser for a fee.
  • Don't click on any links sent in DMs unless you trust the sender.

Sharing your fundraiser on social media is incredibly important to reach your goal, and we want you to feel confident and safe while sharing. Following our tips will help you to avoid bad actors, but if you do come across something suspicious, please let our team know at accountsecurity@gofundme.com.
