How to donate with your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)

You can donate using your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) on any GoFundMe Charity Page or registered charity fundraiser. Additionally, you can easily keep track of and manage the donations you make through GoFundMe with your unique share links.

What’s a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)?

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable savings account with tax advantages. Think of it like filling a giving bucket that you can pour into charities over time, while getting the benefits of tax-deductible donations immediately, and seeing the money in your DAF account be invested and grow tax-free. Donors can contribute to their DAF as often as they like, and then grant DAF money to their favourite 501(c)3 nonprofits immediately, or over time.

Keep in mind that DAF donations are only available in the United States for charity fundraisers where a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit is connected.

Follow these steps to donate using a DAF:

1. Find an eligible charity fundraiser and select “Donate now”
2. Select 'DAFpay – Donor Advised Fund'
3. You will be directed to our payment processor Chariot, to select your DAF provider
4. Sign into your DAF provider with the same log-in information you use when you sign in directly on their platform
5. Enter the amount you’d like to donate and select the DAF payment method
6. Complete your donation, and you will be redirected back to GoFundMe

Your GoFundMe donation receipt will have a tracking link where you can track your donation directly.

*If you don’t see your DAF provider available on the list to choose from, you won’t be able to donate using your DAF at this time, but you can still donate via PayPal or a major credit or debit card, and you'll receive a tax-deductible receipt for your donation.

Now that you’ve made your donation, you’ll be able to share the fundraiser and leave words of support.

• Share the fundraiser: Sharing the fundraiser will help to promote it, which can help raise more funds. Just choose one of the options under "Now help spread the word".
• Add words of support: These will be publicly visible on the fundraiser page. Click "Continue" on the sharing page and then type your message under "Show more support".
