Tax information for donors
Is my donation Tax-Deductible?
Donations made to a personal GoFundMe fundraiser, rather than a charity fundraiser, are generally considered to be personal gifts and aren’t guaranteed to be tax-deductible. But you can always check with a tax professional to be sure. You won’t be issued with a tax receipt from GoFundMe.
Only donations made to GoFundMe charity fundraisers are guaranteed to be tax-deductible in the US, the UK, Canada, Ireland, and Australia and will receive tax receipts automatically from our charity partner, PayPal Giving Fund, or from GoFundMe Pro for enrolled US charities. Donations to these fundraisers are collected by PayPal Giving Fund, a charity organisation, or GoFundMe Pro, and distributed to the designated charity.
If you donate to a certified charity fundraiser from a another country, you will still be emailed the tax-deductible receipt, but you'll need to check with your local tax authority to confirm if they are tax-deductible. Additionally, even if they aren't in our certified charity database, charitable organisations can still create GoFundMes in countries other than the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Ireland. In this case, the charity will need to work directly with donors to issue them their tax receipt.

How do I know I am donating to a Registered Charity Fundraiser?
If you made a donation and aren’t sure whether it was for a charity fundraiser or personal fundraiser, you can check by going back to the fundraiser page. On a charity fundraiser, the name of the charity will be located next to the name of the GoFundMe organiser. In the US, it will include a "Tax deductible" tag. In other countries, there will be a green tick next to the name of the charity.
In addition to donating to registered charity fundraisers, GoFundMe has introduced a new way to make tax-deductible donations to the causes you care about. Check out GoFundMe Causes to find out more.
