All funds raised on a charity fundraiser will be processed through our payment partner, PayPal Giving Fund, who will deliver the funds directly to the charity. The fundraiser organiser will not set up bank transfers or handle the funds raised (this is why there is no "Bank transfers" button for the fundraiser organiser). Charity fundraisers are available in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada and Australia.
This article only applies to a representative of the charity, since the fundraiser organiser will not be able to complete the enrolment themselves.
What is PayPal Giving Fund?
PayPal Giving Fund uses PayPal technology to help people support their favourite charities online. PayPal Giving Fund receives donations through GoFundMe and other partner programmes and makes grants to donors' recommended charities via charity fundraisers.
PayPal Giving Fund is an IRS-registered 501(c)(3) public charity (Federal Tax ID: 45-0931286), a UK registered charity (No. 1110538), an Irish registered charity (No. 20205692), a charity registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (BN: 812867752RR0001) and a Public Ancillary Fund and a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ABN: 65 106 950 945).
Enrolling with PayPal Giving Fund
Enrolled charities will receive funds in their PayPal account at the end of each month. Money donated up to and including the 15th of the month is sent that same month. Any donations received after the 15th will be paid out the following month. After the funds are in the charity’s PayPal account, they’ll be able to use the funds in PayPal, transfer the money to a bank account or have a cheque posted to them.
To receive a payout in the same month you enrol in, you will need to complete enrolment by the 10th of the month. Otherwise, the funds will be paid out the following month.
If the charity does not enrol in PayPal Giving Fund, the funds will be sent to the charity by cheque after a verification process. This takes 3-5 months after your first donation date on GoFundMe and will be sent to the address you have on file with public records.
