Receiving charity fundraiser payouts
All funds raised on a charity fundraiser will be processed through our payment partner, PayPal Giving Fund, who will deliver the funds directly to the charity. The fundraiser organiser will not set up bank transfers or handle the funds raised. Charity fundraisers are available in the U.S., UK, Ireland, Canada and Australia.
This article will only be applicable to a representative of the charity, since the fundraiser organiser won't be able to complete the enrolment themselves.
What is PayPal Giving Fund?
PayPal Giving Fund uses PayPal technology to help people support their favourite charities online. PayPal Giving Fund receives donations through GoFundMe and other partner programmes and makes grants to donors' recommended charities via charity fundraisers.
PayPal Giving Fund is an IRS-registered 501(c)(3) public charity (Federal Tax ID: 45-0931286), a UK registered charity (No. 1110538), an Irish registered charity (No. 20205692), a charity registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (BN: 812867752RR0001) and a Public Ancillary Fund and a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ABN: 65 106 950 945).
Enrolling with PayPal Giving Fund
Learn more about how to enroll with PayPal Giving Fund and how to contact them in this Help Centre article.
Enrolled charities will receive funds in their PayPal account at the end of each month. Money donated up to and including the 15th of the month is sent that same month. Any donations received after the 15th will be paid out the following month. After the funds are in the charity’s PayPal account, they’ll be able to use the funds in PayPal, transfer the money to a bank account or have a cheque posted to them.
To receive a payout the same month of enrolment, you'll need to complete enrolment by the 10th of the month. Otherwise, the funds will be paid out the following month.
If the charity doesn't enrol in PayPal Giving Fund, the funds will be sent to the charity via cheque, after a verification process. This can take 3-5 months after your first donation date on GoFundMe, and a cheque will be sent to the address you have on file with public records.
Receiving donations from Donor Advised Funds
If your charity has received a donation from a Donor Advised Fund, these donations will be processed separately via our payment partner, Chariot. Your charity would receive an email notifying them that a donation is available and to create an account to receive the funds.
