What went wrong

How to fix it

Legal name on your document doesn't match what was entered on your GoFundMe account:

  • Nickname (e.g. Rebecca vs Becky)
  • Married name vs maiden name
  • Name change

Contact our team so that we can help you update that information.

ID has expired

You will need to provide additional information. Please contact us so that we can help.

Unable to upload documents (getting a "something went wrong" error)

Take a new photo of the document; make sure it is clear and at least 100 KB but no larger than 2 MB. If you uploaded a scan of your document, try a photo instead.

Bank statement shows a credit union member number rather than an account number

Ask the credit union for a statement showing your account number, a crossed cheque or a letter from the credit union with all necessary information and signed by a bank representative.

Bank statement is older than 12 months

Ask your bank for a more recent statement or download one from your online banking portal. Or upload a crossed cheque or bank letter instead.

Bank statement doesn’t show all required information

Make sure your document shows the bank logo, your full name and the last four digits of the account number on the same document.
If you are using a prepaid card, you may need to contact the issuing bank.

I do not have the documents required

First, try contacting your bank to see if they can provide documentation.
If not, you will need to add a beneficiary to withdraw the funds on your behalf. Please fill out this form so that we can help set that up for you.
