Changing or deleting the bank account used for transfers

You can change the bank account on file for an active fundraiser at any time. You can edit the bank details by verifying quickly through your bank provider or manually entering bank details. If you delete your only bank account on file, your transfers will be paused until you verify another bank account.

We work with multiple payment processors, such as Stripe and Adyen, to send funds. You'll know which processor you're connected to because their name will appear when you set up transfers. Depending on our payment processors, you may also receive multiple bank transfers on a given day.

If your payment processor is Adyen

When your funds are sent through Adyen, editing the bank information will affect all fundraisers in your GoFundMe account. If you'd like for funds on different active fundraisers to go to different accounts, you'll need to add a beneficiary.

To edit or delete bank details through your bank provider:

  1. Select the fundraiser which you want to update the bank details for
    • US fundraisers - Click "Fundraiser" > “Transfers”
    • All other countries - Click “Transfers”
  2. Select "Edit" next to your bank account on file and continue to our payment processor's secure portal
  3. Under "Bank account details", select the bank currently on file, and choose "Delete" from the drop-down menu (if you just want to delete the bank account on file, this is all you need to do)
  4. Click under "Bank account details" again to add new information, then select "Verify via mobile banking app or website" and then "Next"
  5. Log into or create an account with Plaid
  6. Either choose your bank from the list or search for your bank in the search bar
  7. Continue to follow prompts to sign in to your online banking portal and select the account you'd like to add
  8. When you've selected the account you want, you can return to GoFundMe

To edit bank details by manually entering your information:

  1. Select the fundraiser which you want to update the bank details for
    • US fundraisers - Click "Fundraiser" > “Transfers”
    • All other countries - Click “Transfers”
  2. Select "Edit" next to your bank account on file and continue to our payment processor's secure portal
  3. Under "Bank account details", select the rubbish bin on the right to delete the current account
  4. Then click "Add"
  5. Select "Upload a bank statement" and then click "Next" to enter details manually
    • Note: If you choose to enter your bank details manually, you must also provide a copy of your bank statement.
  6. Enter your bank account numbers and click "Next"
  7. Select the type of bank document you'll be uploading, and then choose your file from your device and click "Next"
  8. Review your summary and click "Submit"
    • If our payment processor has trouble verifying your account, you'll receive a notification.

If your payment processor is Stripe

To edit or delete bank details through your bank provider:

  1. Select the fundraiser which you want to update the bank details for
    • US fundraisers - Click "Fundraiser" > “Transfers”
    • All other countries - Click “Transfers”
  2. Select "Edit" next to the bank account on file
  3. Select the portal of the bank you'd like to log in to
  4. Continue to follow prompts for logging in to your bank's online portal
  5. Once the new account is linked, you'll be automatically redirected back to your GoFundMe account

To edit bank details by manually entering your information:

  1. Select the fundraiser which you want to update the bank details for
    • US fundraisers - Click "Fundraiser" > “Transfers”
    • All other countries - Click “Transfers”
  2. Select "Edit" next to the bank account on file
  3. Select "Add your bank details manually instead"
  4. Double-check your bank details and then enter your account and routing number/sort code or IBAN
  5. Confirm that your information is correct on the next page and click "Submit"
  6. If the information is correct, you'll then be returned to your GoFundMe account
