While Facebook has paved the way for creating social networks, there are many other effective social media sites you can use to promote your GoFundMe. Check out our top tips for promoting your GoFundMe on social media:
Our GoFundMe mobile app makes sharing to Instagram fast and simple. Just tap the Sharing icon at the top right of your screen and then select “Instagram.”
You’ll then want to add your fundraiser link into your bio, so your friends, family, and community know how to find your fundraiser. You can also create an Instagram account or hashtag especially for your fundraiser. That way, your supporters can help share your GoFundMe by spreading your hashtag.
When YouTube sensation, Jérôme Jarre, created a GoFundMe, he made sure to promote his GoFundMe frequently on Twitter. This platform not only helps you build a community, experiment with different ways to promote your campaign and inspire others, but also helps you spread awareness for your fundraiser.
When sharing your GoFundMe to Twitter, make sure you include the following in 280 characters or less:
- Your GoFundMe link (If your link is too long, shorten it using bit.ly)
- A catchy image or phrase to draw interest to your tweet
- Relevant hashtags (the more the better!)
- A mention to your friends and family
Snapchat is another amazing way to share your GoFundMe through fun and creative posts. When sending your GoFundMe link, make sure to add a relevant photo or video to your Snapchat. Feel free to get creative with your filters and settings!
LinkedIn has made it easier than ever to connect with your professional network and influencers within your community. You can post your GoFundMe link as a LinkedIn status to share with your network.
LinkedIn also has an amazing direct message feature that allows you to send personalized messages to influencers within your network. We’ve found personalized messages to be incredibly effective when turning social media followers into donors.
We currently don’t have a way to post your GoFundMe fundraiser directly to Pinterest. However, you can still pin it to your board and you can add your GoFundMe link to your Pinterest bio too!
The easiest way to do this is to first download the “Pin It” button to your browser. If you don’t have it already, you can download it for free from Google Play or the iTunes app store. Once you have the button, here are the steps to pin:
- Visit your fundraiser link.
- Hover over your main image and you’ll see ‘Pin it’ on the top left-hand side, as seen here.
- Once you click on that, you’ll then be prompted to create or pick a board and then write a brief description, as seen here.
- Click ‘Pin it’ and that’s it! Check it out here.
