GoFundMe has partnered with PayPal Giving Fund to deliver donations for certified charity campaigns. This campaign type enables individuals to raise funds to benefit a qualifying US or UK charity of their choice. Donations are processed via PayPal and GoFundMe then sent to PayPal Giving Fund, a non-profit organization which collects the donations and distributes them to the designated charity.
When donors make a payment to a certified charity campaign, they'll automatically receive a donation tax receipt by email from PayPal Giving Fund.
For US certified charity campaigns, GoFundMe's platform and payment processing fees total 7.9% plus $0.30 per transaction and are deducted in real-time from each donation. PayPal Giving Fund does not charge a fee for its services.
For UK certified charity campaigns, GoFundMe’s platform fee is 0% and payment processing fees total 1.9% +£0.20. Payment processing fees include PayPal's transaction fee and GoFundMe's processing cost for the safe and secure transfer of funds. PayPal Giving Fund does not charge a fee for its services. All fees are deducted in real-time from each donation. Unlike other platforms, neither GoFundMe, PayPal or PayPal Giving Fund deducts fees from Gift Aid contributions. Donors to UK Certified Charity campaigns will have the option to give a voluntary tip on top of their donation to help keep GoFundMe a free platform.

Once you begin creating your campaign, select 'Charity or Non-profit' from the dropdown menu that asks "Who are you raising money for?" You'll then have the option to enter your charity's name or EIN.
In order for a non-profit organization to receive funds raised through a certified charity campaign, they have the option to enroll their organization’s PayPal account with PayPal Giving Fund or receive the funds through check if the charity prefers to not enroll.
PayPal Giving Fund pursues multiple steps to grant donations it receives to its donors' recommended charities. Pending distribution of grants, PayPal Giving Fund holds all donations in a secure, non-interest bearing bank account. The enrollment status of a charity will determine the method and speed at which PayPal Giving Fund grants funds to that charity.
If the charity has enrolled with PayPal Giving Fund, it will receive a payout around the 25th of each month for the donations that were made to your campaign before the 16th of that month.
If the charity has not yet enrolled, PayPal Giving Fund will contact the charity and invite them to enroll. If a charity does not enroll with PayPal Giving Fund, PayPal Giving Fund will attempt to deliver the grant funds by other appropriate means, including via check.
If you are already enrolled or recently rolled, it's best to contact our team for a better idea of when to expect your funds.
PayPal Giving Fund makes every effort to deliver each donation to the charity chosen by the donor, which by default will be the charity that the campaign organizer had linked to the campaign at the time of the donation. If PayPal Giving Fund is unable to make a grant to a recommended charity, they may reassign the donation to a different charity and will consult the donors whenever possible. See their Donation Delivery Policy for more details.
The best way to ensure your charity receives funds quickly and securely, along with details of the donations made through your campaign, is to ask them to enroll with PayPal Giving Fund. To read more about the charity enrollment process click here.
