GoFundMe has partnered with PayPal Giving Fund to deliver donations for Certified Charity campaigns. GoFundMe's platform and payment processing fees total 7.9% + $.30 platform and are deducted from each donation. Donors will receive a receipt indicating that their donation is tax-deductible. PayPal Giving Fund does not charge a fee for their services.
In order to create a GoFundMe Certified Charity campaign, you must choose an organization registered as a 501(c)(3) in the US in PayPal Giving Fund’s database. Visit our Charity Donations page to search for your favorite charity.
If your organization isn't listed, find out how to get them added here.
Once you begin creating your campaign, click the 'Campaign Type' option at the top of the screen, and select 'Certified Charity'. You'll then have the option to enter your charity's name or EIN.
When donors make a payment to your Certified Charity campaign, they'll automatically receive a donation tax receipt by email from PayPal Giving Fund.
Once the charity is enrolled for withdrawals, the donations you raise each month will be delivered to your benefiting charity by PayPal Giving Fund account around the 25th of the following month. For example, if you receive donations in October, funds will be delivered to the charity’s PayPal account around the 25th of November. To read more about the charity enrollment process click here.
PayPal Giving Fund makes every effort to deliver each donation to the charity chosen by the donor. If there’s a problem delivering a donation, PayPal Giving Fund contacts the charity and tries to resolve it. If they can’t resolve the problem after that, they may reassign the donation to a different charity. See their Donation Delivery Policy for more details.
