It is not absolutely necessary for you to connect social media to your GoFundMe. You can still collect donations and send your fundraiser to whomever you'd like.
However, connecting Facebook has been a key factor for most of our successful fundraisers. A common misconception about crowdfunding is that strangers will be donating to the fundraiser and making it successful. While we do see this sometimes, it only happens when a fundraiser has already gained a lot of momentum with its local community. That is why it's a great way to leverage your community of friends and family that may already exist on Facebook.
Connecting your Facebook account to GoFundMe does not automatically post anything to your Facebook page. You have total control over what gets posted to your Facebook.
