When can I start withdrawals? How much can I withdraw?
You can set up withdrawals and add your bank account as soon as you create your account. Making a withdrawal does not affect your campaign at all. Your campaign’s "Total Amount Raised" meter will stay the same and you can continue accepting donations for as long as you’d like.
Your first withdrawal will always be for your full available balance. All future donations will then be sent to you automatically.
You can read more about what you will need to set up your withdrawals here.
Note: You must withdraw your donations within 30 days of your first donation. Read more
What if the donations aren't for me?
By default, all personal GoFundMe accounts are set up to individually withdraw the donations yourself. If you'd like to send the donations to another person click here or to an organization click here.
How long do withdrawals take?
Once a withdrawal leaves your account, it will take 2-5 business days to arrive (weekends and holidays do not count as business days). Unfortunately, we can't make withdrawals arrive faster. Withdrawals are sent as ACH deposits which take a few days for your bank to process.
If it's been longer than 2-5 business days since your withdrawal was sent, there's a chance that there was an error in your banking information. If this happens the bank will usually reject the transfers and send them back to your account. This can take up to 10 days. In the meantime, be sure to contact our team so we can make sure your information is up to date for future withdrawals, and read this article for information on missing withdrawals.
Do I have to withdraw again?
After your bank account is added, daily automatic withdrawals will stay turned on in your account. You can change this to weekly or monthly as long as your campaign is not set up with Stripe or PayPal Giving Fund.
Campaigns connected to Stripe will always have withdrawals sent daily. Certified charity campaigns connected to PayPal Giving Fund will have funds sent to the designated charity on a monthly basis once they are enrolled. You can read more about Stripe here and certified charity withdrawals here.
Withdrawals cannot be stopped once they've left your account, and they cannot be disabled completely.
How do I change my bank account?
To change the bank account that your funds are sent to, you can simply follow these steps:
- Sign in to your GoFundMe account here.
- Select the "Withdraw" button
- Select the edit or pencil icon next to "Account Info"
- Enter your new bank account information and save the changes
Future withdrawals will be sent to that bank account. Please keep in mind that bank withdrawals typically take 2-5 business days.
Note: If your account is connected to Stripe or is a certified charity campaign connected to PayPal Giving Fund, you will need to update your withdrawal method by logging in to those accounts. You can read more about Stripe here and certified charity withdrawals here.
