Having a phone number connected to your GoFundMe and WePay account (also known as Multi-Factor Authentication) adds a layer of account security. You can think of it as a second password. If you’ve already verified your account with a phone number, you will need to contact WePay to reset your phone number.
To start, contact WePay at firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information:
- The original phone number you added to your account
- Reason for your request to change the number
- A photo or scanned copy of a government issued ID (Driver's License or Passport)
- The new phone number
WePay requires this information before they can reset your phone number. This is because your phone number serves as a second password on your account, so they need to be 100% sure it’s you asking for the change. Once WePay receives this information, they’ll get back to you within a few hours with the next steps.
If you can’t provide all four items above, please email them with as much information as you can, and they will work with you to get your phone number reset.
