Can my teen start a GoFundMe if they’re under 18?
Some of our most inspiring GoFundMe organizers are under 18! Your teen can certainly raise money for a cause they’re passionate about like these kid heroes. However, GoFundMe requires that customers be at least 13 years of age to have an account.
Please note that if you are located in the US or Canada, you may be required to enter your address and birthdate before you create a fundraiser. Be sure to enter your own birthdate here, as your teen will be unable to start the fundraiser if they enter their birthdate and are under 18 years of age.
If your teen meets this requirement but is under the age of majority in your jurisdiction (typically 18 or 19), we will need a parent or legal guardian to handle the donations directly as the beneficiary. You can learn more about how to add a beneficiary here.
When setting up the fundraiser and withdrawals, it’s best to make it clear on the fundraiser that the parent or legal guardian is handling the funds. You can learn more about withdrawing funds for someone else here.
It’s great to note that you also have the option to start a GoFundMe on your child’s behalf. You can learn more here.
How do I report harassment or bullying on GoFundMe?
Abusive or hateful language is never acceptable on GoFundMe. This is a safe space for people to come together and help each other. If you see this kind of language on your teen’s fundraiser or anywhere on the site, please let us know immediately so we can take appropriate action.
I found out that my minor has a GoFundMe. What do I do?

Can I have access to my teen’s account?
We certainly understand your concern for your teen’s safety; however, we are unable to provide unauthorized access to the account if you’re not the account holder. Please keep in mind that all users ages 13 and older are considered authorized account holders.
If you have any additional questions about accessing your teen’s account, or how to remove your teen’s fundraiser from public view, please get in touch with us for further guidance.
How can I remove an image of my child from GoFundMe?
