Connecting your bank account

Connecting your bank account to your GoFundMe account is an easy and safe way to transfer the money you have raised.  In the US and Canada, you’ll be able to connect through Trustly, a third-party service hosted by GoFundMe, instead of manually entering your bank information. 

Using Trustly to connect your bank account drastically decreases the potential for a failed withdrawal due to a typing error, since you won’t be manually entering your account and routing information.

In the US and Canada, you can follow these steps to use Trustly when setting up withdrawals:

  1. Select the fundraiser you would like to withdraw from
  2. Click the “Withdraw” icon (or "Bank transfer" if using the GoFundMe app)
  3. Select "Set up withdrawals"
  4. If the donations are for yourself, choose “Myself”
  5. Enter your personal information, click “next”, and then you’ll be taken to the Trustly integrated screen
  6. Select your bank from the pre-selected options. If you don’t see your bank, select “All other banks” on the bottom right (shown below)
  7. Confirm that you want to move forward by clicking “OK, got it!”, which will take you to your bank specific online login
  8. Once logged in, you’ll be able to select the account you would like funds to go to
  9. Select your preferred account and click “Continue” 


What to consider when using Trustly to connect your bank

  • Connecting a bank account is very secure. This process does not give GoFundMe access to your bank accounts, and we cannot see any of the personal information within your online bank account.
  • The bank account you connect still needs to match the name you’ve entered with your personal information. Do not sign into someone else’s bank account, even if you have their login information. If you would like to add a beneficiary, please review this article.
  • Our payment processors primarily support checking accounts. Transfers to savings accounts often aren’t successful, so we recommend using a checking account when possible.
  • If you’re having trouble logging into your bank account, double-check to make sure the username and password are correct, and if you continue to have trouble, we advise reaching out to your bank directly.

Unable to connect your bank account

If Trustly is not available in your location, or you choose not to use it, you can still manually enter your bank details. To do so, you’ll follow these steps after signing in to your GoFundMe account

  1. Select the fundraiser you would like to withdraw from 
  2. Select “Withdraw” (or "Bank transfer" if using the GoFundMe app)
  3. Select “Set up withdrawals” 
  4. If the donations are for yourself, choose “Myself” 
  5. Enter your personal information
  6. On the page titled “Connect bank account”, select “Or manually add your bank information” instead of selecting your bank. (You may need to scroll down to see this option if you are on a mobile device) 
  7. Input your bank information when prompted
