  1. First, you’ll want to decide if you are going to transfer the funds to your bank account or if you’d prefer to send it directly to a charity. “Who are you raising funds for?” is one of the first things we’ll ask in the setup process
  2. You’ll set your fundraiser goal. You don’t have to raise it all to receive your funds and you can change it any time. 
  3. Tell your story and add pictures. Using personal photos and stories helps make a fundraiser successful.


Get Donations

Remember, sharing is the key part to getting donations on GoFundMe. If you aren’t sharing your fundraiser with your friends, family, and community, then it’s not likely to get donations. Using your personal network can help get you closer to your goal. 

Set up transfers

We suggest setting up your bank transfers as soon as possible. It can take 1-2 business days to verify transfer information, and another 2-5 business days for the funds to reach the bank account on file. Setting up your bank transfers does not end your fundraiser, or change the total amount raised showing on your fundraiser.


You will be able to transfer funds to your personal bank account, invite someone else to transfer to their bank account, or transfer to a business bank account. You can learn more about making the right decision for you here.
