In order to give you administrative access to the charity's account you've selected, we must confirm that you work for the charity or you are closely affiliated with it, and that your role with the charity allows you access to make changes on behalf of the charity. If your connection to the charity is confirmed, you will have full access to donor and fundraiser data.
Please note: Claiming your charity account is a separate process from receiving your donations and will not expedite a payout. If you are looking to receive your donations, please see this article.
How we confirm your connection
We first look at the email address you've used to create your GoFundMe account. It is recommended that you use your official charity email to sign up (eg. firstname.lastname@example.org) since it will allow us to verify your connection to the organization more quickly. We will request additional information through this form.
Please note that you will need to create a new GoFundMe account when going through the verification process, even if you have an existing GoFundMe account.
Documents we accept for verification
1) Attach a picture of your government-issued photo ID.
2) And an official document that shows your role at the charity.
The following are examples of the types of documents you can attach to show that you are authorized to act on behalf of the charity:
- A picture of your charity's government registration documents showing your name and role
- A picture of your most recent pay stub (accepted if name and role are listed on charity website, or personal LinkedIn provided)
- A picture of the charity's bank statement, showing your name as an authorized signer
We will review the documents to confirm that the photo ID submitted matches the name listed on the supporting documents or charity website. Once our review of the documents is complete, we will respond within 1-2 business days to confirm your full access or request additional information.
If you are not able to provide one of these documents, you can still submit your form and work our Charity Services team to discuss other options.

Could not confirm your connection to charity
In the event that we cannot confirm your connection to the charity after submitting the requested documents when claiming your charity, we will ask for additional information. If we are still unable to successfully verify your connection to the charity, your GoFundMe account will be converted to an individual account. With an individual account, you can continue to fundraise on GoFundMe, but you will not have access to donor data or the permissions to act on behalf of the charity.
If we were unable to verify your association with the charity and you feel as though this was a mistake, please contact support by clicking "Get help".
On behalf of GoFundMe and our third-party contractors (including our payment processors), we are asking for these document/s (a) to verify your identification, (b) to provide you with the services you seek from GoFundMe, (c) to comply with applicable laws, regulations, rules, and internal policies related thereto, and/or (d) to prevent fraud and improve security. The information will not be used for any other purposes, and will not be retained for longer than necessary to achieve the purposes for collection.
