Learn about fees
No fee to create a fundraiser
It’s always free to start and manage a fundraiser on GoFundMe. To help us cover payment processing, there’s a transaction fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per donation. When donors make a single donation, they can leave an optional contribution to help GoFundMe remain free for people who start a fundraiser. If donors choose recurring donations, they pay a fee of 5% per donation to help make this feature possible for our community. For more information about fees in your country, check out our pricing page.
Transaction fees are deducted automatically from donations; the person receiving funds will receive all funds raised minus these transaction fees. They can review what fees have been deducted under the "Breakdown" portion of the "Transfers" tab within their GoFundMe account.
Fee example: If a donor makes a $50 donation to a US fundraiser, the individual receiving funds will receive $48.25 once transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30) are deducted.
What is a transaction fee?
The transaction fee covers the costs of credit and debit charges, safely delivering donations, and helps us offer more ways to donate—through credit, debit, PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, or Google Pay (for most fundraisers). This is the only fee deducted on GoFundMe to cover all your fundraising needs.
Voluntary tipping by donors
Donors have the option to leave a voluntary tip for GoFundMe. By leaving a voluntary tip, you’re helping us to do more good in the world, and your generosity helps us provide a safe and secure experience for you and others in our community.
Tipping is optional, and the tip amount can be changed to 0. The GoFundMe organizer will not see whether or not their donors leave a tip to GoFundMe. Instructions for how to edit the tip amount are here. If you've made an unintentional tip, you can request a refund.
