Adding and editing words of support or comments
As we continue to improve our product, you may see different experiences available to you as you donate and within your GoFundMe account. GoFundMes will now support either ‘comments’ or ‘words of support’ so that donors can leave kind words and messages to the GoFundMe organizer and beneficiary. We’ll cover steps for both options in this article, and you can see which option is available to you by checking the GoFundMe page.
Please note, whether you leave ‘comments’ or ‘words of support’, you can only do so after donating to the fundraiser and signing into your GoFundMe account.
Comments
Comments are managed on the GoFundMe page, and not from your receipt or within your GoFundMe account. To make a comment on a GoFundMe, you’ll need to be signed into your GoFundMe account, and you’ll need to have made a donation to the fundraiser.
Comments are interactive on the GoFundMe page, so other supporters can reply to your comment, and you can reply back.
Follow these steps to leave a comment:
- Visit the GoFundMe fundraiser you donated to
- Scroll to the “Comments” section
- Type your message in the “Add comments” box and click “Post”
Follow these steps to delete a comment:
- Visit the GoFundMe fundraiser you donated to
- Scroll to the “Comments” section
- Find your comment and click the three horizontal dots to the right of your comment
- Select “Delete”
- Select “Delete” again to confirm
Words of support
Please note, you’ll only be able to add/edit your Words of Support within 14 days of making the donation. If you’d like to edit your message after 14 days, please contact our team for help.
How to edit or add words of support using your receipt:
- Open your donation receipt
- Scroll to “Increase your impact”
- Select "Add a comment" and sign into your GoFundMe account
- Select "Edit", add a comment or make changes, and be sure to save
How to edit or add words of support within your GoFundMe account:
- Sign in/up using the email associated with your donation
- Navigate to “Donations you’ve made” from the menu in the top, right corner
- Your donations will be listed by type – monthly or one-time
- Select the donation you'd like to edit

Click “Add” next to “Words of support”, type in your message, and then click “Post”
- If you’ve already added “Words of support”, you’ll see a pencil icon next to “Words of support”.
- To edit your message, click the pencil icon, type your new message, and then click “Save”
How to edit or add words of support without your receipt or a GoFundMe account:
Please sign up for a GoFundMe account using the same email address that’s connected to the donation you made.
Once you’ve created your account, use the "Contact us" button to contact our team, and we can update your account with your past donations. Then you can follow the steps above to make edits and leave words of support.
