To raise money for someone else, you'll want to first make sure that your beneficiary is qualified to withdraw funds in the country and currency that you sign up with. To withdraw, they will need to be at least 18 years of age, located in a supported country, and provide the following:
- A bank account in your country
- A physical address in that country
- A phone number in that country
- A Tax ID in that country
If your beneficiary does not meet these requirements or you are located outside the US or Canada, then please contact us so we can best advise.
Otherwise, to get started in creating your GoFundMe campaign you can sign up here. Be sure to create the campaign using your own name and email. You'll be able to set up your beneficiary later on once the campaign is live.
If you are finished creating your account and are ready to set up your beneficiary, simply click 'Withdraw' on your GoFundMe Dashboard at any time and you'll be asked whether you're raising money for 'Myself' or 'Someone Else'.
If you select the 'Someone Else' option, you can enter your beneficiary’s name and email to send them a beneficiary invitation. Once they accept the invitation, they'll have sole access to withdraw donations. A separate beneficiary account will be created for them. They can sign into this separate account and withdraw via bank transfer or check. Bank transfers take 2-5 business days to arrive while checks take 7-10 business days to arrive.
Your campaign page will also reflect that you are raising funds on behalf of your beneficiary once the invite has been sent.
If you don't see the 'Myself' or 'Someone Else' option, please contact our team so we can help ensure that your account is set up properly.
