Fundraising in Canada - Verifying your account

When creating a fundraiser in Canada, you'll be required to verify your personal or company information in order to allow for successful payouts and donations to your fundraiser.

If you’ve received an email asking you to update your transfer information, please follow the link directly from that email to do so.

If you fail to verify your information, your payouts and/or your ability to accept incoming donations may be paused until it's verified. To avoid this, we recommend verifying your personal or company information as soon as possible. If we’re unable to verify your information, you may be asked to provide additional documents for review, such as:

  • A government-issued photo ID
  • A selfie
  • A proof of address document (i.e. a utility bill)

Individual Requirements:

  • Full, legal name
  • Date of birth
  • Physical address*
  • Email
  • Phone number*
  • Job Title
  • Bank account information*

*Physical address, phone number, and bank account information must be in Canada.

If we can't verify your identity with the information provided, you may also be required to provide proof of liveness, which entails you taking a selfie and uploading the photo, along with a photo of your ID, to our payment partner for review.

If you prefer not to upload a selfie alongside your ID, you will instead need to provide a proof of address document with your ID.

Organization Requirements:

  • Company name
  • Company address
  • Company phone number
  • Company Tax ID
  • Company bank account information
  • Director(s) information (name, email address)
  • Owner(s) information (name, DOB, email address) – Owners are defined as any individual owning 25% or more of the entity.

If you're the representative creating the fundraiser, you'll also need to provide your own information, including:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Physical address in Canada
  • Email
  • Canadian phone number
  • Job Title

If we can't verify your identity with the information provided, you may also be required to provide proof of liveness, which entails you taking a selfie and uploading the photo, along with a photo of your ID, to our payment partner for review.

If you prefer not to upload a selfie alongside your ID, you will instead need to provide a proof of address document with your ID.
