Troubleshooting tips for transferring GoFundMe funds to a business or organization
Here, you'll find solutions to some common questions about setting up transfers to your business or organization bank account.
Choosing the correct business setup
If you choose the wrong setup, you likely won't be able to correctly fill out the provided fields. Be sure to pick the option closest to your situation, and you can go back and edit this if you run into issues.
Organization has multiple names
If the registration documents and the bank account show different names for the organization, enter your legal business name in the “Business legal name” field, and then enter the name on your bank statement in the “Doing business as” section, shown below:
Trouble verifying Decision-Maker details
Requirements:
- For organizations outside the United States, our payment partner requires at least one owner/controller and one signatory.
- For organizations within the United States, our payment partner requires at least one controller, one signatory, and all owners.
Definitions:
- A controller is authorized to manage funds on behalf of the organization.
- A signatory is authorized to sign official documents on behalf of the organization.
- An owner is someone who holds 25% or more of the organization.
Additional Guidelines:
- Sole owners can assume all three roles: Owner, Controller, and Signatory.
- If your organization has no owners, you must still assign both a Controller and a Signatory.
- If your organization has multiple owners, list ALL of them in addition to a Controller and a Signatory.
If you do not meet the requirements of a controller or owner, you will need to coordinate with someone who is considered a controller to add their details to fulfill the requirements in the Business Owner section. If you’re not sure if you’re considered a controller, please see the list of titles that fulfill the controller requirement.

If you get an error when uploading your image, try the following:
- Turn off flash and take a new image
- Crop the image to be closer without cutting off the corners
- Use a Chrome browser and try an incognito window
Need to change information
If you've already entered your information but need to make changes, you'll need to go back to your transfers page. To do that, simply follow these steps from within your GoFundMe account:
- Choose "Your fundraisers" from the menu in the top right corner
- Choose the fundraiser you're setting up transfers for
- US Fundraisers - From your ‘Today” page, select “Fundraiser” from the left menu > Select “Transfers”
- All other countries - In your dashboard, select the "Transfers" tab from the menu on the left
- Select "Edit" next to your bank account under "Payout", and you'll be brought to our payment partner's secure information portal
