Raising funds for an Irish Charity?

How to get funds to an Irish charity organization

If you're one of the countless individuals, businesses, or organizations that have decided to raise funds for charity, crowdfunding can help. If you haven’t already signed up with GoFundMe, the process is quick and easy, allowing you to get your fundraiser up and running in a matter of minutes.

Charity fundraising is now available in Ireland so it's even easier to fundraise for your favorite charities. To set up a charity fundraiser, you will need to choose "Nonprofit or organization" and fill out the charity's information on the fundraiser creation page. Be careful to make sure you’re selecting the correct organization, since we cannot direct the funds to another organization once raised.

If you don’t see the organization listed, you will need to ask the person in charge of the finances at the organization to enroll with PayPal Giving Fund.

How charity fundraiser payouts work

All funds raised on a charity fundraiser will be sent to our payment partner, PayPal Giving Fund, who will process and deliver the funds directly to the charity. As the fundraiser organizer, you will not be withdrawing the money directly on GoFundMe. Learn more about PayPal Giving Fund.

Charity fundraisers are available in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, and Australia. To find out about charity fundraiser fees, visit our pricing page

I do not work for the charity

If you’re simply fundraising on behalf of the charity, you don’t need to do anything else to make sure they get the money you’ve raised. PayPal Giving Fund will handle the delivery of funds to the benefiting charity, either by mailing a cheque or depositing it in their PayPal account.

Important note: You will not have a withdraw button on your charity fundraiser, since funds are not withdrawn on GoFundMe. You do not need to end your fundraiser for donations to be sent.

I work for the charity

You have options to determine the method of payouts from PayPal Giving Fund to your organization. You will not have a withdraw button on your charity fundraiser.

Charity fundraiser payouts are sent on a monthly basis. If you're enrolled with PayPal Giving Fund, you'll receive funds to your PayPal account. If you are not enrolled with PayPal Giving Fund, or would prefer not to go through the process of enrolling, the funds will be sent to you via cheque, and funds will be sent to the address you have on file with public records.

Money donated through the 15th of the month is sent that same month. Any donations received after the 15th will be paid out the following month. For enrolled charities, after the funds are in the charity’s PayPal account, they’ll be able to use the funds in PayPal, transfer the money to a bank account, or have a cheque mailed to them. We recommend enrollment to receive funds most quickly. Learn how to enroll with PayPal Giving Fund.

Are you an Irish charity and would like to contact the organisers of your fundraisers?

You'll want to confirm your connection to your charity, and then you'll gain access to your Charity Activity Dashboard. Once you've confirmed your connection, you'll gain valuable donor and organizer data like name, email, donation amount, etc.

So long as the donors and organizers have opted into communication from your organization, you'll be able to contact them.
