What’s my GoFundMe Profile?
Your GoFundMe Profile is meant to reflect you and the things you care about most. With your profile, it’s easier than ever to share causes with your community, inspire giving, and amplify your collective impact. All you need to do is:
- Add your favorite fundraisers (For individuals, nonprofits, or both!)
- Edit your profile–make it your own with your profile and cover images and share a few words about your most loved causes
- Make your profile public*–let everyone see all the amazing causes you care about
- Share it and inspire your community to support causes with you
*All profiles are set to private by default. When set to private, only your name will be visible and your avatar and cover image if you choose to add them. You can read more about visibility settings here.
You can customize your profile name and images, add a bio, pin a fundraiser, and display all the fundraisers and nonprofit pages you care about in one place. Your profile also showcases your activity on GoFundMe, such as donations to nonprofits and fundraisers you’ve started.
All causes you’ve donated to, both personal and nonprofit, will be available to add to your profile. You can choose to add them to your public profile, or you can leave them hidden if you don’t want to showcase each cause you’ve supported. You can also add fundraisers or charities you haven’t donated to with their link. Even if you aren’t able to donate, you can still showcase and share all the causes that resonate with you.
You can also highlight a specific fundraiser or nonprofit organization by pinning it to the top of your profile. This allows you to prominently feature a cause you deeply care about, making it the first thing people see when they visit your public profile.
Once you’ve curated your list, you can easily copy your profile link and share via social media, text, etc. to let those close to you know what’s inspiring you lately. We automatically display the number of people you’ve inspired to help, so it’s easy to see and celebrate your collective impact. The number of people you inspire to help includes unique donors who:
- Donated to fundraisers you’ve organized
- Donated to fundraisers you’ve shared using your unique share links
- Donated to a fundraiser through your public profile
You can see even more in your private impact dashboard, like the total amount you’ve inspired your community to give and the real time views you generate by sharing fundraisers.
How can I access my GoFundMe Profile?
To access your profile, be sure you’re signed into your GoFundMe account, and you’ll find "Profile" in the top right menu.
Remember, your profile and your “Account settings” are two separate parts of your overall GoFundMe account. To edit your account email, notification settings, etc. you’ll use “Account settings”.
How to find and follow other supporters
Under the option to share your profile, you’ll see recommendations of other profiles to follow based on your top causes and fundraisers you’ve supported. To follow new supporters, simply click “Follow” below their name and profile picture.
As you’re looking for new people to follow, consider making your profile public. Public profiles have all content visible to the GoFundMe community. Having a public profile will encourage others to follow you back, especially if the causes you care about align!
Follow these steps to make your profile public:
- Sign into your GoFundMe account
- Select “Profile” from the top right menu
- Click the Edit pencil under your name or click “Change visibility” in the banner on your account
- Under the “Visibility” section, choose “Public”
- Be sure to “Save”
Notifications you’ll receive
Once you follow another supporter, your notification feed will update you about their activity, including:
- Starting a fundraiser
- Adding or pinning a fundraiser or Nonprofit Page to their profile
- Donating to a fundraiser or nonprofit
You’ll also receive a notification when new people follow you.
When new items show up on your feed, there will be a notification bell with the number of notifications noted in red in the top right of your profile.
Be sure to log into your GoFundMe account often to scroll through your feed and see what other people in your community are doing. You'll also receive a weekly email digest letting you know about updates since your last visit.
Edit notifications you receive
Once you’re following another supporter, you can edit the notifications you receive, share their profile, or unfollow them. Just follow these steps:
- Go to your list of followers by clicking “Followers” under your profile photo
- Find the profile you’re looking to take action on
-
On their profile, you’ll see a “Following” button. Click the drop down arrow
- You’ll see options for Notifications and Unfollow
- To stop receiving notifications from them, select “Notifications” and toggle the option off
Hide activity from your Profile
If you aren’t ready to share a new fundraiser you’re starting or don’t want to display a recent donation, you can hide activities from showing up on your profile activity feed.
Note: Any donations you make anonymously will automatically be hidden from your feed.
Follow these steps to hide an activity:
- Sign into your GoFundMe account
- Select “Profile” from the top right menu
- Scroll to your list of activities and find the activity you’d like to hide
- Click the three horizontal dots to the right of the menu
- Select “Hide activity”
- Confirm by clicking “Hide”
Once you hide an activity, it will be permanently removed from the list, so make sure you really want to hide it before completing these steps.
Block others from seeing your Profile
If there are certain people you'd prefer not to see your GoFundMe Profile, you can block them. When blocking someone, they:
- Will no longer be following your Profile, and it will show as private to them
- Won't receive notifications or recommendations about your Profile
- Won't be able to see who you follow or who is following you
- Won’t be able to see you in other people’s following or follower lists
- You also won't see them appear in other people's followers or following lists.
Follow these steps to block someone:
- Visit their GoFundMe Profile
- Select the three horizontal dot menu below their location
- Select "Block"
- Select "Block" again to confirm you'd like to block them
If you want to unblock, you'll just visit their Profile again and select "Unblock".
Why do GoFundMe accounts include a profile?
We want to create a more consistent and intuitive experience across GoFundMe. Profiles make it easier for users to recognize and connect with others on the platform and are private by default.
How do I make the most of my GoFundMe Profile?
Start by sharing! Within your profile, there will be a “Share profile” button beneath your bio section. After clicking, you can copy the provided link and then share wherever you usually support the causes you care about. You can set a custom URL so that your share link reflects who you are!
You might consider sharing your link by:
- Including it in your Instagram bio or taking a screenshot of your Profile and posting it to your Instagram grid or Stories
- Share the link or a screenshot to your Facebook page
- Adding it to your Linktree, Pillar, or other link sharing platform
- Adding the link to your TikTok bio or talking about your profile in your latest TikTok video
- Sending it over text or WhatsApp to those you’re close with
- Include the link in your email signature
- Adding a line in your blog referencing your profile
In addition to sharing, you can curate your GoFundMe profile depending on the situation or what you’re passionate about. For example, if you usually engage in a lot of activity to support Earth Day, you can edit your profile to reflect that cause. Search for GoFundMe fundraisers in honor of Earth Day and add them to your profile. Then, you can easily share your profile to give others the opportunity to make a difference as well.
Your profile is a great opportunity to activate others for good. Get creative in how you curate and share your profile, and watch the power of community as you, your friends, and followers make a difference in the lives of people coming to GoFundMe for help and support.
