Tips and best practices for GoFundMe Challenge participants

How do I claim my fundraiser?

Follow these steps to claim your fundraiser: 

  1. Open the email GoFundMe sent you titled "Sign in now to jumpstart your fundraiser’s success"
  2. Click on the button that says "Jumpstart your fundraiser"
  3. Select "Edit Fundraiser"
  4. Sign up with the email address used when registering for the challenge

From there, you'll be signed in and can make edits to the fundraiser. 

Why should you claim your fundraiser?

Personalizing your fundraiser is one of the best ways to connect with potential donors and inspire support. When you add a heartfelt story, clear details about your cause, and personal photos, people can better understand who you are and why their help matters. Fundraisers with personal touches often see more engagement and donations because they feel authentic and relatable.

Looking for your incentive? 

Incentives are mailed to the address you provided when signing up for the Challenge. Please allow two to four weeks for delivery after you have received your first donation. If you haven’t received your incentive after this time, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

How does the money arrive to the nonprofit?

Funds raised on a certified nonprofit fundraiser will be processed through our payment partner, PayPal Giving Fund, or sent directly to the nonprofit if they have enabled GoFundMe Pay through their GoFundMe Pro account. If a nonprofit isn’t enrolled in PayPal Giving Fund, funds are sent by check after verification, and the check is mailed to the address listed in public records.

Nonprofits receive funds in their PayPal account at the end of each month.

Donations made by the 15th are paid that same month; donations made after the 15th are paid the next month. Once funds arrive, nonprofits can use them directly in PayPal, transfer to a bank account, or request a check.
