The GoFundMe Tip
If your bank statement shows a donation amount larger than you expected, or two separate amounts, it is likely showing the donation plus a GoFundMe tip.
GoFundMe gives donors the option to add a voluntary tip. Your generous tips are used to help us provide a safe and secure fundraising experience for you and others in our community.
Donors’ voluntary tips are in addition to their donations. Your donation receipt will show you a breakdown of your fundraiser donation and GoFundMe tip amount. On your statement, this may show up as a single, combined charge or as two separate charges.
Donations are not mandatory and all donors have the opportunity to tip their preferred amount. You can learn how to change the suggested tip amount here.
If you have questions about the amount you were charged, please review this article, which outlines GoFundMe's fees. If you would like us to refund the tip, please contact us using the following link: Submit a refund request.
Other Pending Charges
Credit card companies sometimes show attempted charges on statements as a security precaution to let their customers know how their cards are being used.
If you attempted a few times to make your donation, you may see several pending charges on your bank statement, even if you successfully donated only once. These additional pending charges will usually drop off within 24 hours of your payment attempt. If they do not drop off within 24 hours, please contact our team.
