We have found that most fundraisers are started with good intentions, but a lack of important details may put the legitimacy of a fundraiser in question. If you see a GoFundMe started for you, your organization, or your family by someone you do not know, here is some information to ensure that you receive your donations.
Organizers in the US, Canada, Australia, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Netherlands and Italy have the ability to add a beneficiary to their fundraiser. To receive the funds directly, please ask the GoFundMe organizer to send you a beneficiary invitation. Once you accept the invitation, you will have control of the donations. If you don’t have their contact information, visit their GoFundMe and click the envelope icon next to their name to send them a direct message.
If a GoFundMe was created without your permission or consent, you may report the fundraiser by clicking the Report button at the bottom of the fundraiser. Please include your ID, your relationship to the organizer, and your connection to the fundraiser to assist our team when reviewing your report.
Our team is here to make sure that we protect you, your family, and your community. If you are the intended beneficiary and did not receive the funds, please file a claim here.
