Why haven’t I received my GoFundMe funds?

Waiting for funds can feel stressful. Here’s what to know first:

  • Donations can take up to five business days to process before they’re ready to transfer.
  • After a transfer starts, it can take 2-5 business days to reach your bank.
  • Daily transfer frequency doesn't always mean you’ll receive a deposit every day. This can happen when donations are still processing and aren’t ready to send yet.

If you’re still within these time frames, your funds are likely on the way. If the timing doesn’t look right, use the steps below to check what’s happening.

Haven’t added your bank details yet?

You’ll need to set up transfers before GoFundMe can send funds to your bank.

Step 1: Check if transfers have been sent

Follow these steps to find your transfer details:

  • US fundraisers - select Fundraiser from the left-hand menu > select Transfers
  • All other countries - select Transfers from the left-hand menu

On the Transfers page, check these sections:

Activity shows each transfer that has already started. If a transfer is listed there, it’s on the way to your bank and should arrive within 2-5 business days.

Breakdown shows donations that are still processing. Look for the Being processed section to see donations that haven’t been included in a transfer yet. Once they’re ready, the transfer date will appear under Activity

Step 2: Check if a transfer failed

If you received an email saying a transfer failed, your bank may have rejected it because the account details on file were incorrect.

Bank transfers can fail if:

  • The account or routing number was entered incorrectly.
  • You used the wire routing number instead of the ACH routing number.
  • The account has been closed.
  • The account type doesn’t match what was entered, such as savings instead of checking.

To fix this, contact your bank or check your banking app to confirm the correct details. Then go to Transfers in your GoFundMe account and select Edit next to your bank account to update the information.

Step 3: Check if we need more information from you

Sometimes, our team needs to verify your identity or review your fundraiser before funds can be released.

First, check your GoFundMe account. Go to your Transfers page and look for a red banner. If there’s an issue, the banner will explain what’s needed. Follow the steps in the banner, or visit Uploading documents for bank transfers for more help.

Next, check your email. If you received an email with the subject line “Important Message from GoFundMe, - Response Required” reply directly to that email with the requested information. You can also learn more about this type of hold and how to submit your information for review here.

After you send the requested information, allow one to two business days. Then check your Transfers page to confirm that a transfer is starting.

If you’re a beneficiary

If the organizer added you as a beneficiary, you can check your transfer status from the Transfers page in your own GoFundMe account.

If funds are on hold, the organizer may need to take action. For example, they may need to reply to a verification email from GoFundMe.

If you don’t see transfer activity and can’t resolve the issue in your own account, contact the organizer to ask if they received a request from our team.
