Unrecognized charge on bank statement

Our Risk team is working around the clock to prevent the unauthorized use of credit and debit cards on GoFundMe. Donations made to GoFundMe fundraisers will appear on your  bank statement as: GoFundMe “Fundraiser Title”.

Here are a few reasons why you may see a charge you do not recognize:

A household member used your card to make a donation

Unrecognized charges may have been placed by a family member, friend or coworker who may have had your permission to use your card. We suggest reaching out to anyone who may have had access to your financial information or to your device.

The title of the fundraiser is on your statement instead of “GoFundMe.”

Occasionally, you will see the title of the fundraiser on your bank statement instead of “GoFundMe”. You may also find that the location of the charge is tied to “Redwood City, CA” but you are in a different location. This is just showing where the transaction was processed.

If none of these apply, and you did not make a recent donation to a GoFundMe fundraiser, please contact our team here.

Cards can be compromised and used at any merchant across the web, so it’s important to also contact your card provider to report the activity if you think you may need to cancel your card.

Received a donation receipt but did not make a donation

We always recommend reviewing your bank statement first. If you don’t see any charges that you don’t recognize, it’s possible that someone entered the wrong email when making their donation. If this happened and you'd like to unsubscribe from GoFundMe emails, you can do so by selecting “unsubscribe” at the bottom of the email. You can also reach our team by clicking “Contact Us” to be unsubscribed from our emails.
